Regardless of what aspect of your dog’s behavior you want to be changed, the only people who have the power to change it are the people who interact
with your dog on a daily basis. Your DogSmith instructor, while very knowledgeable, can only demonstrate the proper techniques.
Dogs learn through repetition. The high degree of repetition required for your dog to learn means a commitment to daily practice sessions.
The recommendations your DogSmith makes will only be successful if you implement them. If you have any suggestions or ideas about changing your
instructor’s recommendations, please share them with your instructor. Clients have had tremendous success in changing their dog’s behavior when:
- A commitment was made to train the dog every day. It does not matter if you train for a few minutes or an hour. The important thing is to do it
every day. - The client openly communicates with the DogSmith about concerns or questions about the recommendations made and techniques that are
being used. - Every member of the household treats the dog in the same way. Since dogs don’t speak English, consistency is tremendously important for
them to learn. - Clients maintain a clear picture of the goal of their training and realize that the training process does not last forever, only as long as it takes the
dog to learn. - They trust their DogSmith.
Please commit yourself to making the changes to help your pet. A dog can only be as good as its training.
Enjoy your dog, enjoy your training and enjoy the fabulous relationship you will build together for life!
