Your Best Investment - Your Pet’s Health

In commemoration of National Pet Wellness Month 2011, The DogSmith National Dog Training and Pet Care Company provides free pet first aid education.

Oxford, MS – With a goal of improving pet owner awareness through educational materials and public relations, the National Pet Wellness Month was launched in 2004 by the American Medical Veterinary Association and Fort Dodge Animal Health.  Today, thousands of vet clinics and pet professionals participate in National Pet Wellness Month including The DogSmith, a national dog training and pet care company.

Niki Tudge, founding director of The DogSmith, explains, “We have a holistic philosophy of pet care, from proper training and socialization to nutrition, wellness and health.  Our DogSmith owners, trainers and pet care technicians are trained in animal first aid, nutrition and animal communications so it is natural that we participate in National Pet Wellness Month.”  National Pet Wellness Month this year is focused on educating pet owners about wellness examinations, disease prevention, and pet health insurance. “As a service to our customers and all animal lovers, we have some amazing educational eBooks and videos on our website that can be downloaded for free and this year we’ve added a first aid video so pet owners can learn the basics of pet CPR,” says Tudge.

In addition to general health and wellness, National Pet Wellness Month this year is including education about pet health insurance because studies show that, on average, clients with pet health insurance schedule more veterinary visits.  Pet Insurance is now available for routine wellness care as well as injuries and illnesses.

To view a pet first aid training video visit www.DogSmith.com or contact your participating vet clinic to receive free educational material including health checklists, information brochures and posters on wellness examinations, disease prevention, and pet health insurance.
