Local Dog Trainers and owners of The DogSmith of North Tarrant County, Virginia and Randi Kamper, have completed Emergency Animal Rescue Service (EARS) volunteer training with United Animal Nations (UAN).
Haltom City, Texas September 25, 2010 - Founded in 1987, United Animal Nations (UAN) is a non-profit organization committed to caring for animals displaced by natural disasters and other crises. They offer a variety of programs for animals including emergency sheltering, disaster relief services, financial assistance and education.
The UAN drives their relief effort through its Emergency Animal Rescue Service (EARS) volunteer program. EARS volunteers are the backbone of the UAN effort and volunteers come from across the country and all walks-of-life, but they share a commitment to helping animals in need.
“We originally became dog trainers and opened our DogSmith Dog Training and Pet Care business because we wanted to help animals and we believe our expertise can be invaluable to the volunteer program,” said Virginia Kamper. “Becoming an EARS volunteer is a natural extension of what we are committed to do in our business,” she said.
Now that the Kampers have completed the EARS Volunteer Training, they are prepared to be deployed to an EARS emergency animal shelter where they may be assigned, setting up and dismantling shelters, walking, grooming, feeding and socializing animals, reuniting animals with caregivers and transporting animals for vet care. Between emergencies, the Kampers will also remain active in their own communities by participating in training classes, educational events and volunteering at their local shelters. “I love all aspects of animal care and rescue work,” said Randi Kamper. “Volunteering with UAN is just one more way I can give back to my community.”
