About Rebekah King
DogSmith of Canyon
Rebekah’s lifelong love of animals began when she spent her childhood summers at her family’s ranch. Even at the young age of five, Rebekah had a good idea of her career aspirations when she told her Grandmother that she wanted to be a vet so she could take care of “baby animals.” Rebekah’s aspirations eventually led to earning a degree in Animal Science while working full-time for a vet. While working at the vet’s office Rebekah continued her education, graduating with a Master of Business Administration. She then rounded out her experience by teaching school for a year gaining another invaluable skill.
While pursuing her educational and professional goals, Rebekah found the time to adopt two abandoned dogs, one scheduled to be euthanized and the other an unwanted stray with a “cartoon” face. Her pups are now the main focal point of family life in the King’s household. Rebekah’s education and work experience have provided her with a unique perspective on the pet care industry and she took the opportunity to combine her passion for animals with her business skills by opening her own DogSmith Dog Training and Pet Care business.
Rebekah says, “My main motivation for becoming a DogSmith is my wish to better educate pet parents on the rewards of building better relationships with their pets. Also, I have always loved education and a challenge, so I am always looking to gain new knowledge and build on my current skills as a person and as a teacher.”
